SCOTT DAVIDSON IS THE 2009 MPSF ( Mountain Pacific Sports Federation)
    PLAYER OF THE YEAR

2009 MPSF Player of the Year SCOTT DAVIDSON • #8 • Senior • Attacker • UCLA
Scott Davidson becomes the first UCLA men's water polo player to earn MPSF Player of the Year honors since 2000, when Sean Kern earned the conference's top honor. Davidson enters the 2009 NCAA Tournament as UCLA's scoring leader with 42 goals in 28 games (1.50 GPG). The senior from Seal Beach, Calif., has scored in 22 of the Bruins' 28 contests, having registered 15 multiple-goal performances. Davidson scored a season-high four goals against No. 1-ranked USC on Nov. 7 before adding two goals in each of the Bruins' first two MPSF Tournament victories (Pepperdine, USC). He currently ranks fifth on UCLA's career scoring list with 147 goals in four seasons.

-KALEY DODSON- LOS AL WPC alum, commits to play at Stanford University next year.

Los Alamitos High School's Kaley Dodson throws the ball during practice.

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's water polo head coach John Tanner announced the signing of four exemplary student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Wednesday. The quartet of signees that will become members of the Stanford Class of 2014 consists of Kaley Dodson (Seal Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS), Kaitlyn Lo (San Anselmo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake HS), Lexie Ross (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach HS) and Kelsey Suggs (Ladera Ranch, CA/Tesoro HS). The foursome will make its Stanford women's water polo debut in the 2011 season.
"These four give us a diverse, tough to guard group of athletes who are ready to play at the highest level of college water polo," Tanner said. "I am extremely excited about the skills, talent and drive they can bring to our program. Like all our current players, they are also fantastic students with a wide range of interests."

Dodson, a 5-11 driver, is a two-time Division I All-CIF Southern Section selection (2008-09) heading into her senior season in 2010. On the international level, Dodson, a member of the U.S. Junior National Team, traveled with the squad to competitions in the Netherlands and Russia where she faced some of the top junior competition in the world. "Kaley has all the attributes to succeed at this level," Tanner said. "She is extremely fast and effective scoring in a variety of situations. She also has the length and leg support to be a valuable defender."

Los Alamitos senior attacker Kaley Dodson, arguably the biggest prize of this year's Orange County girls water polo recruiting class, has made one collegiate program very happy. The ultra-fast and ultra-versatile Dodson has committed to Stanford, she said in a text message earlier Tuesday night.Yes, last season the Cardinal landed Annika Dries of Laguna Beach and Kate Baldoni of Corona del Mar and now they have added Dodson and Laguna Beach's Lexie Ross.Dodson was a first-team All-County selection as a junior and later played for the U.S. junior team. She is among the fastest drivers in Southern California but also uses her long arms and toughness to defend 2 meters. She also is a gifted passer and perimeter shooter. And I think Dodson is getting better and has all the tools to crack into the big time.

GIRLS WATER POLO STANDOUT KAYLEE MILLER OF LOS AL INKED HER SIGNATURE DURING FALL 2007 EARLY SIGNING PERIOD AS SHE COMMITTED TO THE AGGIES OF UC DAVIS
    NOV. 27TH, 2007
    DAVIS, CA

UC Davis Women's water polo signed Kaylee Miller of Cypress, Calif., a prospective student-athlete to a National Letter of Intent during the November signing period, it was announced by head coach Jamey Wright on Tuesday. Miller, a senior at her respective high school, is expected to enroll at UC Davis in the fall of 2008. Miller was her team's leading scorer and Player of the Year recipient, helping the team to a third straight Southern Section quarterfinal birth. In 2006, she was named to the All-Southern Section second team and All-Sunset League first team after scoring a team-high 94 goals. Miller also has played for the SoPac Zone team for the past four years, earning a nod on the U.S. Youth National Team training roster last summer. "I think Kaylee is going to be an outstanding utility player. She's an excellent defender and a clever attacker. I think she'll be able to score from the outside and she'll be able to post up on the inside," said Wright.

ALUMNI WP: Kilgore helps Fremantle (A professional club team) to Australian National League  title.
Former LOS AL water polo player and San Diego State goalkeeper Sarah Kilgore helped her Fremantle Marlins squad to a dramatic come-from behind win in the Australian National Water Polo League championship game last month.

Kilgore ( Rossmoor,CA) went to the Australian west coast last November to join the Fremantle squad after their regular goalkeeper, Australian National team goalie Emma Knox, was forced to sit out the entire season after hip surgery. Sarah was their only goalie for all 25 games Fremantle played this year, and finished it in strong style -- with Fremantle downing Sydney University (with their keeper being Kilgore's long time OC rival Emily Feher out of Foothill) 15-14 in the quarterfinals, then winning the semi-finals 8-7 over the Cronulla Sharks, before downing the Balnmain Tigers 11-9 in overtime on April 12. Kilgore made a key save in the game when she blocked a 5-meter penalty shot.
